The long awaited second album from British folk/soul singer Lianne La Havas is finally here! Take a listen and get ready for the Atlanta show on October 25 at Center Stage Theater!
Since the first moment we first heard Lianne La Havas‘ amazing vocals on tracks like “Lost and Found” and “Elusive” (both from 2012’s Is Your Love Big Enough?), we’ve been hooked. The wait is finally over for her second full-length album, as she dropped Blood on July 31. The album is already flying up the UK Album charts, battling The Maccabees for the #1 spot!
Check out this commentary on the album in the singer’s own words, telling how the album dives into La Havas’ colorful heritage. Born in England to a Greek father and Jamaican mother, she spends Blood‘s tracks more deeply exploring her complex heritage, an urge spawned by a holiday trip to Jamaica with her mother:
“La Havas enjoyed emotional reunions with long-lost relatives; embraced Kingston’s clubs; and even jammed in front of her family for the first time during a session with reggae producer Stephen McGregor. Discovering her heritage inspired Lianne to reflect on the connections between now and then, which in turn sparked the songs which would become her future. Simply, ‘everything seemed to have a lot more clarity, and I really wanted to speak about it.’” (Read the full Telegraph story here)
La Havas brings her live act back to Atlanta, October 25 at Center Stage Theater (her first Atlanta show since she sold out The Loft in 2013)! Tickets are sale now at Ticketmaster and all Ticketmaster outlets!
